Top 5 Initial Jewels: Express Yourself

Top 5 Initial Jewels

The best jewels are the ones with meaning and sentiment. Integrating initials into your accessories can be a nice way to keep a loved one in your thoughts – every time you look at the jewel, you’ll be flooded with love and memories. It can also just be fun to personalize your pieces (I love all things monogrammed – bags, stationary, etc.). Even better yet, they make for thoughtful Valentine’s Day gifts!

Accentuality Geode Initial Necklace: This is the ultimate in personalization – you choose not only your initial, but also which color agate you’d like (and each agate is completely unique). Want your first and last initials? No problem.

Sarah Chloe Ava Freestyle Necklace: If you want a nameplate necklace à la Carrie Bradshaw, this is the piece to get. You could even make yours out with the name of someone special, like your tot or hubby.

Jacquie Aiche Alphabet Letter Initial Waif Ring: This slender gold-vermeil ring isn’t screaming for attention, so you could easily get away with stacking two – maybe your initial and your bff’s!

Roberto Coin Diamond Initial Bangle: Everything is said better in diamonds. Wear this alone for understated style or add on few other bangles to make a bigger statement.

Jennifer Zeuner Gold Initial Earrings: These are my favorites of the bunch. You buy each earring separately, so you can have one initial for your first name and another for your last!

Crucifix and Rosary-Inspired Necklaces: Cross Your Heart

Crucifix and Rosary-Inspired Necklaces

Okay, I’m not Catholic – far from it – but I’m especially fascinated with the conclave going on. Between that real-life drama and my obsession with silver screen’s The Borgias, it seems like a list of crucifix and rosary-inspired necklaces was almost pre-ordained. So here are the pieces that the clergy from back in the day like Pope Alexander VI would rock with piety and style:

Oscar de la Renta 24-Karat Gold-Plated Cabochon Medallion Necklace: Classic looking charms are joined by lace-look flowers for a chain that is Baroque-inspired, yet decidedly modern.

Armenta Chrysacolla Cross Enhancer: The oxidized silver hearkens back to an older time for the church, but jewels have never shone brighter.

Lanvin Swarovski Crystal and Glass Cross Necklace: Yesterday, red drapes were placed over the balcony window where the next pope will soon step from behind. So what better to honor the big reveal than this red grosgrain Lanvin?

Rosantica Rosarietto Agate and Coral Necklace: The subtlest of the bunch, this double chain looks like an extra long loop of prayer beads and even comes in a portable pouch!

Native Jewels Onyx and Diamond Rosary: A traditional black rosary made fit for a pope with an onyx cross and pave diamonds.

Givenchy Silver Crystal Shark Earring: A Magnet for Pain

Categories:Jewelry & Watches

Givenchy Silver Crystal Shark Earring

A crystal-encrusted talon is pretty badass, but you also have to be a serious badass to endure the pain this Givenchy causes. The sharp little Shark did his worst – my ear felt crushed between the magnetic pieces. After just 30 short minutes, I had a hot flash headache and couldn’t even see what was in front of me. I took it off, only to find a deep indentation in my ear. I thought this would be a fun, punk alternative to basic hoops, and the clip-on aspect is great for Snobs without pierced ears. I even get the idea behind the strength of the magnet – you wouldn’t want this to fall off and get lost. It’s just not worth the sacrifice, though. I would’ve paid to take it off. Why couldn’t they have just made the earring a screw-on post?? “Beauty is pain” is not a mantra I subscribe to.

Stephen Webster Dark Jewel Collection for Dom Pérignon: Everything’s Coming Up Rosé

Stephen Webster Dark Jewel Collection for Dom Pérignon: Everything’s Coming Up Rosé

I’d like to make a toast – to the champagne-fueled fashion streak designers have been on lately. Yesterday’s Charlotte Olympia x Veuve Clicquot collab had me craving bubbly and cupcakes, and now Stephen Webster (rock royalty’s favorite jeweler) has given us even more reason to celebrate! His Dark Jewel collection was inspired by Dom Pérignon’s 2002 Rosé Vintage, and just like the champagne, these pieces are rich and sparkling. White gold grape leaves coil around Rubellite Tourmalines on the drop earrings and long finger ring. And you know how I was saying I wished Charlotte Olympia’s clutches came with bubbly? These do! Well, some anyway. Ten bottles of the vintage are up for grabs with your choice of either black sapphire cuff links or a pendant necklace. Hurry now before another Rosé obsessed Snob like me gets them first! Exclusively at Fortnum & Mason.

Fallon Palm Cuffs: Cuff Me

Categories:Jewelry & Watches

Fallon Palm Cuffs

Dana Lorenz of Fallon jewelry never fails to excite and delight. My newest obsessions are her stunning palm cuffs. Studs for the rocker chick, pearls for those who love a touch of Elizabethan sophistication, and pave Swarovskis for the ultimate in shine. The styles come plated in yellow gold, gunmetal, and rhodium. My favorite? Multiples at once! One makes a statement, but three makes a better statement. Wear them with anything from a lacy dress to your most beat-up jeans. Then there are her rings. The Pre-Fall 2014 ones I wore above (the Labyrinth Armor and pave Infinity) are coming soon, so check back for more info. In the meantime, I suggest you get yourself some handcuffs. Just make sure you have a fresh manicure! Jewels like these will draw admirers in for a closer look.

Fringe Jewelry: Stranding Up

Fringe Jewelry

Fringe bags are having a moment, but that’s too much of a commitment for me (not to mention, they’re rarely done well). I prefer to approach the look from a different angle – through jewelry! The trend will be transitioning into fall, and with all of these gold tones, you’re bound to find a necklace that will fit right in during the holidays. Besides, fringe is more fun in dress or jewel form than it is on a bag – it gives you a better opportunity for movement and razzle-dazzle!
